ski course- rough terrain(ridges, banks, close to snowboarding cross events)
goal: to beat the other 3 skiers down the course
Freestyle Skiing originated in Europe in the country of Norway, Italy, and Austria. Freestyle Skiing became bigger and more popular in the 1960s, but wasn't recognized by the International Ski Federation till 1979. the sport used to contain Moguls, Aerials, and ballet. Now, the three events are Moguls, Aerials, and Ski Cross. Ski Cross is entering the Olympics for the first time this year. The equipment used are boots- ski boots that are able to handle hard landings and the snowy climate, helmets- they are made with hard plastics, ski poles- they help the skiers move faster, make turns, and keep balance, and skis- the skis used are any length usually 185cm for men and 175cm for women(moguls). For aerials skis are 160cm they have a little side cut and are narrow.
